Ruth Marie (Betty) McElrath
December 10, 1933 - February 4, 2020

 

Ruth Marie (Betty) McElrath, 86, of Lincolnton, North Carolina, passed away February 4, 2020 with her family by her side at TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.  

She was born to Charles and Mittie Brownlee in Sumter, SC, December 10, 1933.  Her siblings included the late Jeanette Ari and Charles Brownlee, Jr.   Betty graduated from Edmunds High School in Sumter, S.C.

She married her loving husband Howard Ray (Mac) McElrath on April 1, 1966 who passed away on May 18, 2018.  He was a wonderful husband and father.

Betty is survived by her four children:  Carol Mindlin of Fort Worth, Texas, Vicki King of Mt Pleasant, South Carolina, Cynthia Mason of Beechgrove, Tennessee and Betsy Scott of Anchorage, Alaska. 

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tara Havard of Anacortes, Washington, Billy Coulliette of Cooper Landing Alaska, Carl Coulliette of Cooper Landing, Alaska, John Scott of Los Angeles, California, CW3 Daniel Cook of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Elizabeth Scott of Anchorage, Alaska and Catherine Scott of Anchorage, Alaska.

She is also survived by her great grandchildren Riley Cook of Hopskinville, Kentucky, Noah Cook of Hopskinville, Kentucky, Maddie Scott, of Los Angeles, California, McKenzie Scott of Los Angeles, California and Allen Johnson (AJ) Coulliette of Cooper Landing, Alaska.

Betty retired from Alyeska Pipeline Service Company in Anchorage, Alaska on July 6, 1993.   She loved working for Alyeska and spoke often of her coworkers and friends.

Betty was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She was a talented artist and lived life to the fullest.  She was kind to everyone and a joy to be with.  She and Dad were always there for their children, family and friends.  Her legacy will live on with all her family and those that she has touched along the way.

 Funeral services are being planned at this time to be held in Anchorage, Alaska.
