Mary Dyson
August 5, 1924 - September 4, 2023

 

Mary Dyson, born on August 5, 1924 in Santa Monica, CA, to Marie and Bill Reifenstahl, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 99 on September 4, 2023. She was a graduate of Santa Monica High School, and the wife of the late LeRoy Dyson.

Mary is survived by her son Jerry (Patti) Dyson, grandchildren Matthew (Anya) Dyson, and wife Anya: and Morgan Svet) Kolev, and husband Svet; great grandchildren Zoe and Alex, and many nieces and nephews. 

Mary was a longtime resident of Anchorage, Alaska, having moved there in 1959.  While in Alaska she worked for years as the manager at Peggy’s Airport Café, and later as the documents librarian at Alyeska Pipeline Company. She and her husband LeRoy loved their live in Alaska; they enjoyed alpine skiing, gold, camping and fishing. Mary also learned to fly, and loved her Piper J3 Cub.  

She moved to Chicago in 2019 to live near her son, where she resided at Waterford Estate senior community. People said Mary was “stuck on happy" - the description fit.

She will be laid to rest along with her husbaand in Los Molinos, Calfiornia.

Mary was wonderful to work with. Always very helpful to find what I needed. She was also my golf partner in the Alyeska golf league.
