Carroll Eby
February 13, 1937 - November 11, 2023

Longtime Alaskan and Soldotna resident, Mr. Carroll Eby, 86, died Saturday, November 11, 2023, at his home in Soldotna. 

There will be no services planned per Carroll's wishes. 

Carroll was born February 13, 1937, in Alder, Montana.  He graduated High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  He moved to Alaska in 1968 living in Fairbanks from 1968 to 1983.  In 1983 he moved to Soldotna where he has lived ever since.  He worked for Fairbanks Sand & Gravel, Fairbanks Earth Movers, built roads in Montana and Alaska, worked for Alyeska Pipeline working on Pump Station 2 and worked for Stephen & Sons in Anchorage.  Carroll retired from the Local 302 Union Operating Engineers on June 1, 1995.  He loved fishing, hunting, woodworking, and restoring antique cars. 

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Pete, Chuck, Bill, Jim, Don, and Gene Eby; sisters, Doris and Mary Jane and his parents, Ted and Jennie Eby.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Eby of 60 years of Soldotna; daughter, Kimberly Eby of Soldotna; son, Thadius Eby of Soldotna; brother, Robert Eby of Sheridan, Montana; granddaughters, Ashley (Eby) Stephens of Jerome, Idaho, Amanda Eby of Kenai and Ozzy Moe Eby-Schorr of Kenai and many nieces and nephews.

Cathy Girard

I worked with Carroll at PS02 about a year before he retired.  He was considered a great mechanic by many.  I'm so glad he got to enjoy a very long retirement after all the years he contributed to TAPS.
