J. Paul Halley III
July 22, 1956 - December 20, 2024
J Paul Holley III, 68, of Anchorage passed away on December 20, 2024, from the recurrence of melanoma.
Paul loved the Lord and believed that all people die, but not all people live. Paul lived a great life full of travel; family and friends that adored him and his wonderful quick wit; a profession that he loved for over 40 years on the North Slope of Alaska; and a never-ending list of projects that he would complete “some day” because he described himself as the world’s best procrastinator.
He will be loved and missed by all who knew him, but especially his wife, Jan Miyagishima Holley, and his 2 dogs. Paul also leaves behind Jan’s family, whom he considered his own, nieces and nephews, grandchildren, his best friend Jack Hankins, and his sister, Kathleen Floistad.
Memorial donations may be made to the Anchorage Gospel Rescue Misson in honor of Paul.
A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at O’Malley’s on the Green on January 9th at 4pm.

It is sad to hear about Paul. He was a good person to work with and had a great sense of humor.

I worked just a short time with Paul many years ago, but he has always stuck in my heart as a wonderful, thoughtful guy that I could easily call my friend. RIP Paul.

Paul was always fun to be around at work or at play. We took him King fishing on the Kenai in the early 90's and he did quite well! He caught a nice King and kept everyone on the boat smiling! He will be missed. Rest in peace my friend.

I worked with Paul back when Pump Station 10 was still on line and really enjoyed optimizing the topping unit with him and the rest of the crew. He knew his stuff and his can do approach coupled with his sense of humor made the days go by quickly.
The evenings also went quickly when Paul organized poker games in the PLQ. He displayed a lot of patience when I bumbled my way through all the game variations as a very novice player. (If the statute of limitations has not expired, the games never happened.)
Paul will be missed by many.

Sorry to hear of Pauls passing, he was with us at PS-10 when we shut it down. Great man hard worker, and fun to be around. Prayers for the family. I hope to see him again in Glory.

Paul grew up down the street from me on the Hillside in Anchorage. His father Paul was an identical twin and Jed, Paul's uncle, lived next door to us. So we knew Paul well during his childhood and teenaged years. He was a joy to have in the neighborhood and was the kind of person you just liked to have around. I was really glad when he hired on with Alyeska. I was happy for him to have a great job and I was happy that Alyeska would have a friendly, hard working, competent person working the line. In reading all the things that others have written I find myself saying, yep, that's Paul. People knew him well and each appreciated a unique side of him. So sorry he had to leave us so soon. Rest in peace Paul. You did well and left this earth a better place.

So sorry to get this news. Paul was a wonderful person in everyway who brought joy and laughter, along with reliability and a 'can do' spirit. One Holloween after he had started working at Alyeska, he asked if my boys would like to carve pumpkins to put outside (not my favorite activity). He offered to come by along with Dennis Marascola and spend the afternoon with my family carving pumpkins and decorating the outside for Halloween trick or treaters. The kids had a great time - so did we all. He had a big heart, a ready smile and was always ready to pitch in and help wherever it was needed at work or where he saw an opportunity to help. The world could use more 'Paul Holley's.

I first met Paul at Pump Station 12. His good nature and pleaseant outlook made it wonderful working with him. We later worked together as Core Team members in the Loss Prevention System. His ability to retain how the system functioned and presented it from his personal expierence made him a leader in our group. I will always remember him for being kind and for his love with God.
